South Asian Dialogue Platform for Anticipatory Action Sets Stage for Regional Collaboration
Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, in partnership with the Disaster Management Division of the Ministry of Defence, is set to host the much-anticipated South Asian Dialogue Platform for Anticipatory Action from September 10-11, 2024. This pivotal event aims to foster proactive approaches to disaster management across the region.
The two-day platform will bring together key stakeholders and leaders from South Asia to delve into crucial discussions on anticipatory action strategies. Representatives from the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement across South Asia, along with officials from the IFRC Asia Pacific and Headquarters, will participate in shaping the future of disaster response.
Preceding the main event, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society will host a special Red Cross and Red Crescent (RCRC) community connecting event on September 9th at their National Headquarters. This gathering, scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, will feature insightful presentations highlighting the current initiatives and anticipatory action journey of SLRCS. Participants will also benefit from shared experiences from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan, showcasing effective anticipatory action practices in the region.
The agenda for the RCRC event includes sessions dedicated to introductions, presentations by SLRCS on their ongoing work and anticipatory action efforts, as well as experiences shared by neighboring countries. Discussions on strategic positioning within the RCRC network and engagements with IFRC Geneva’s Anticipation Hub will also feature prominently.
