The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS), with the support of the Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), successfully distributed 225 school kits to students from five schools in the Ampara District. The beneficiary schools included Ampara Nugelanda Vidyalaya, Ampara Diwlana Vidyalaya, Ampara Abayapura Vidyalaya, Ampara Suhandagama Vidyalaya, and Ampara Udayapura Vidyalaya.

This timely initiative was carried out to support children from families affected by the recent floods in the region, with the objective of ensuring the continuity of their education without interruption. The School Kits Distribution Ceremony took place at the Uhana Divisional Secretariat Auditorium, with the participation of school children, government officials, and representatives from the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society.

Each school kit with essential educational materials, served as a symbol of hope and encouragement, helping these young students to continue their studies despite the challenges they face. SLRCS remains committed to supporting vulnerable communities and enabling children to pursue education even in the face of adversity.
