Red Cross Society of China donates to support flood recovery
24/01/2013 – Colombo, Sri Lanka: The Red Cross Society of China donated a 50,000 USD towards the flood and climate change affects operations that is currently run by the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society.
The cheque was handed over by the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Wu Jianho to the Director General of SLRCS Tissa Abeywickrama at the National Headquarters of the Red Cross in Colombo.
During the meeting the Director General briefed the Chinese Ambassador about the humanitarian work done by the society in the island.
Meanwhile as an appreciation the Director General of SLRCS also handed over a ceremonial plaque to thank the Red Cross Society of China and the Chinese Government for standing with the Red Cross in times of adversity.
China has continued to donate to the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society towards natural disasters since the early 50’s.
