Continuing support to the flood and landslide affected families
25/07/2018 – Colombo, Sri Lanka – The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society distributed cash grants to 1200 flood and Landslide affected families (2018) within Kaluthara, Gampaha and Colombo Districts today. The cash grant was distributed at National Youth Centre Auditorium in Maharagama under the patronage of President of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Jagath Abeysinghe.
The cash grant was provided to the affected families to fulfil their basic needs such as buying back essential household items, medicine and other personal requirements.
Under this programme 2800 families will be receiving a sum of 10,000 LKR each. The amount of the cash grants is based on the government standard for household needs.
SLRCS provided these cash grants with the support of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
SLRCS Vice President 1 Bharatha Jonikkuhewa, Vice President 2 Upali Sirimanne, Chairman of the Kalutara Branch M. K. D. Chandrasiri, CGB Member Dr. Amila Kankanamge, Deputy Director General of the SLRCS Sudath Madugalle, Operations Manager of the IFRC Sri Lanka Gerhard Tauscher, Branch Executive officers and several other distinguished guests were attended the ceremony.
