Providing First Aid at Independence Day Celebrations

07/02/2013 – Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka: The city Independence Day Celebrations for this year took place in the Nuwara Eliya district under the patronage of the Minister of Estate Affairs Muthusivalingam and also Minister Nimal Piyathissa recently.

Students from schools in the district took part with various other individuals from the Government & Non Government sectors in order to commemorate the 65th Independence Day.

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society’s Nuwara Eliya Branch was called upon to provide First Aid to the participants during the event. Over 100 volunteers from the branch took part in the first aid service which managed to provide services to over a 1000 individuals.
