T10 Partners affirms to work more closely towards alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable in Sri Lanka
22/11/2014 – Colombo, Sri Lanka: Partners who attended the Sri Lanka Red Cross T10 Summit in Sri Lanka in the past few days has affirmed at the end of the Summit to work more closely with Sri Lanka Red Cross in ensuring corporation towards working for the most vulnerable in Sri Lanka.
At the end of the three-day Summit, over 45 delegates belonging to 18 Partner National Societies discussed as to how their support and commitment towards the people of Sri Lanka can go beyond the Tsunami operation.
The Summit was held in view of the 10th anniversary of the Indian Ocean Tsunami. All partners were given an opportunity to return to Sri Lanka and to have a good understanding as to how their support continues to help the people of Sri Lanka.
In the beginning of the Summit a felicitation ceremony was also held to thank the Partners for their contribution to the Tsunami Reconstruction & Rehabilitation Programme. Afterwards they were given the opportunity to visit their project sites in Sri Lanka.
On the final day of the Summit all partners gathered back in Colombo to discuss about the experience they had in the field and also how they can support beyond the Tsunami Operation.
In the morning session all partners were given the opportunity to express their views with regard to what they saw in the field.
Afterwards the discussion on how to revision the future of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement in Sri Lanka also took place.
In the end all partners agreed to an affirmation of how they will proceed towards the future.
