The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) recently held a successful awareness program focused on Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA), Protection, Gender, and Inclusion (PGI), and Finance for branches involved in the Cyclone Fengal operations, supported by the Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

The program specifically targeted eight branches—Ampara, Batticaloa, Mannar, Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, Trincomalee, and Vavuniya—to strengthen their capacity for a timely, effective, accountable, and inclusive response, while ensuring sound financial management throughout the operation.

The event saw the active participation of members from the Central Governing Board, Branch Governing Boards, Branch Executive Officers, Finance teams, field officers from the branches, and staff from the National Headquarters (NHQ). This initiative underscores SLRCS’s commitment to providing a well-coordinated and transparent humanitarian response to communities affected by Cyclone Fengal.
