Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Launches Flood Response and Dengue Prevention Programme
In a proactive step towards aiding vulnerable communities across Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) is launching a comprehensive Flood Response Operation and Dengue Prevention Programme. This initiative aims to mitigate the impacts of recent floods and prevent the spread of dengue fever, ensuring the health and safety of affected populations.
The Colombo Branch of SLRCS recently hosted an orientation program in Colombo to kick off this significant operation. The event brought together key government stakeholders who will play crucial roles in the program’s success. Distinguished participants included Former Minister, current Senior National Security Advisor, and President Chief of Staff Hon. Sagala Ratnayaka, alongside other prominent figures from the medical field and the Sri Lankan government.
The Flood Response Operation will focus on immediate relief and recovery for flood-affected areas, while the Dengue Prevention Programme will implement measures to control and prevent dengue outbreaks. Together, these initiatives will reach out to the most vulnerable communities across the island, providing essential support and promoting public health.
This collaborative effort underscores the importance of unity and coordination in disaster response and public health initiatives. By joining hands with government bodies and medical experts, the SLRCS aims to build a resilient and healthy future for all Sri Lankans.
