Empowering the youth to be better leaders of our society
23/02/2017 – Kurunegala, Sri Lanka: The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society’s (SLRCS) latest novelty project aimed at the country’s youth was launched in Kurunegala today under the direction of the Director General of SLRCS Neville Nanayakkara.
SLRCS has conducted several interventions earlier and this time more space will be given on reintegration youths of different ethnic groups by familiarizing to their day to day living style through self-motivation approach throughout the program. Accordingly the programme aims to do a series of motivation and mind set changing training for a week for advanced level students identified by their school Principals. Through this program expecting change and to erase negative things from for all A/L Students and motivate them to pace A/L exam with self-confident for next year.
As a first phase 4 branches of SLRCS will launch the programme, mainly in Colombo, Gampaha, Kurunegala & Kandy. Today the initial programme took place at the Kurunegala SLRCS branch with the participation of the Director General, the Chairman of the SLRCS Kurunegala Branch and the Branch Executive Officer along with around 25 teachers from schools around Kurunegala who will be training the students.
During the phase of this programme participating students will be able to
- To identify weaknesses of themselves.
- To motivate them to erase all negative thinking from their mind
- To be confident to face the A/L examination
- To become agents of behavioral change within their communities
